Why Injection Molding Is An Inventor’s Best Friend

Whether you are an experienced inventor, or someone who has recently decided to make an idea come to life, you will want to begin by creating your product efficiently and accurately. With the help of Valencia Plastics, you will be able to create a prototype of your new invention and then use injection molding to produce it.

Injection Molding is a process where you choose a material for your product and have that material injected into a molded cavity.  The material chosen will then cool and harden in the shape of the cavity to create your parts or products. Valencia Plastics has a wide range of materials you may choose from to create your molding, including but not limited to:

  • Nylon
  • Acrylic
  • HDPE/LDPE
  • Polyurethane
  • Thermoplastic

We provide a 5-step “Concept to Shelf” process for all inventors and we will get your products into the hands of your supply chain.  With our engineering staff, in-house mold shop, and high-quality parts, you can get everything done in one place.

Step One: Discovery

We want to make sure your invention is original and won’t cause you any conflict down the road. A preliminary search online can help to see if your idea has already been patented by someone else, but it may be best to hire a patent attorney that specializes in this topic.  If no one can find evidence of a previous patent, then you are ready to make your invention a physical product.

Step Two: Creative Design

Our engineering staff has decades worth of marketing experience and can collaborate with you on your ideas. Over the next 3-5 business days, we will work with you on the latest CAD software to render 3D images of your product design. This way, we can interact with the images and make detailed changes to perfect the end result.

Step Three: Prototyping/Stereolithography (SLA)

If you need a prototype to show to investors or you simply need to see a model of your product before full production begins, then it is best to go through with step three.  SLA technology is fast and precise, making models and prototypes with formidable accuracy and speed. When you approve the prototype and believe your invention is ready for production, you can get started on injection molding.

Step Four: Mold Building/Plastic Injection/Blow Mold

This is where production begins to make your first round of molds and plastic injections.  We create molds for your product and then use the plastic injection to fill the mold.  We can also create Blow Molds for hollow products such as bottles and cylinders.  This process can take between 2 and 5 weeks, depending on how intricate your design is. Our team of professionals will work closely with you to make sure this process is completed with accuracy to meet all your requirements. We want you and your product to be a success.

Step Five: Launch Your Product

Finally, we are ready to launch your product for public sale. Now that all the hard work is done, all that is left to do is manage a production schedule that works best for you. We will give you time to approve the new mold and do any testing that is required to market the invention. We will typically then begin production about a week after your final approved model. We will then work diligently, 24/7, to fulfill your order.

Please contact us to get started on your new invention and making your ideas a reality. We can get you started on a custom package for your needs right away.
